Yes. We recommend that you book your room as early as possible to secure both the best price and option for you. Rates will increase as rooms become more limited.

Please note, you’ll also need to pay a deposit to secure your booking – the amount varies depending on the provider, so check this carefully too. For each of our accommodation providers, you will be able to book using a unique LIS code.

This code serves a different function for each of our providers. For Well Street Hall and Claredale House the code will give you access to a room reserved for LIS students. For Drapery Place this code will give you a 10% discount on the standard room rate.

Rates start from £160* per week based on the 2021-22 academic year, though this may change. Prices vary between providers and also depend on the type of room you select, so do take a close look at the pricing. Once you have selected your preferred option make sure to check your budget carefully so you know exactly how much you’ll spend each month. Please note you will need to pay a deposit to secure your booking.  

Given that you will book your accommodation directly via the provider we can’t guarantee that you’ll be living with other LIS students. We know how important the LIS community will be during your studies so we will try to liaise with the providers to ensure there are other LIS students in your halls. 

Yes, the halls will all have students from other universities in London including UCL, LSE, and Queen Mary. 

The set-up varies from provider to provider, so take the time to go through each of their websites to see the room options (en-suite, studio etc.), shared facilities, and communal spaces they have available. 

Well Street Hall, Claredale House, Blithehale Court, and Stratford One, and Drapery Place are all self-catered. 

If you choose one of the four halls listed, then you’ll be living and studying in East London. Once home to Alfred Hitchcock, Idris Elba, and Shakespeare, East London is fashionable, vibrant, and culturally diverse, having undergone huge regeneration in recent years. You’ll find high-end, luxury fashion next to the edgier BOXPARK, and street-food tents next to Michelin starred restaurants. 

The area is full of young creative types – home to two independent art-house cinemas, as well as London’s most beautiful Edwardian theatre and music venue; the Hackney Empire. And the Arcola Theatre is one of the best spots for emerging theatre outside of the West End.  

East London is also well-known for its nightlife, home to some of the capital’s coolest bars and clubs including the Queen of Hoxton, XOYO, and Dalson Superstore, as well as a seemingly endless number of pop-up bars, and classic pubs. 

For an area so associated with urbanism, there‘s a surprisingly good selection of green spaces to choose from. Well Street Hall, Claredale House, and Blithehale Court are particularly close to Hackney Downes, London Fields, and Victoria Park – the largest park in east London – which hosts several music festivals each summer (e.g. All Points East and Field Day).  

Stratford One sits on the border of Hackney Wick (a huge green space) and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. If you want great sports facilities in London, look no further. 

And, of course, near these halls and the LIS campus, there’s the City of London itself. One of the world’s most famous business districts, housing billion-pound organisations, purpose-driven start-ups, and everything in between. 

Of course. Some students may prefer to live at home whilst others may choose to rent privately.
